It took five runs from the final six balls, and Jakar Ali hit Dasun Shanaka with the first four balls and then bowled. Shanaka then sent Mahedi Hasan back for a two-ball duck.

On the penultimate delivery, Nasum Ahmed and Shamim Hossain, off 14-12, ran hard to finish Sri Lanka’s unbeaten run.

Bangladesh finished 169-6 with the third highest successful chase in his 20s.

India and Pakistan faced off in their next Super 4 games on Sunday. This is the second clash in the controversial No Handshakes Group’s post-match tournament.

Despite the quick opening stands between Nissanka (22) and Kusal Mendis (34), Sri Lanka was reduced to 65-3 in 9.1 overs after Mahedi Hasan hit twice.

Shanaka was then in charge, and he won 50 balls from 30 balls, including two Fours and five Sixes. He hit six sixes in all, and 57 out of 27 balls at Charith Asalanka for the fifth wicket.

On the 19th, Asalanca was dropped and then ran off the same delivery with 12 to 21 balls. Shanghai also lost, and remained undefeated until the very end.

The massive amount of momentum was lost by the fuss and two wickets of Mustafizur Rahman.

Tanjid Hasan was bowled for two ball ducks but did not stop his partner, who fought back against Sri Lanka. Bangladeshi skipper Litton Das (23) shared 59 out of 34 balls on the second wicket.

Bangladesh was 59-1 in power play, with Saif Hassan leading. He reached 50 from 36 balls.

Hassan and Fridoi combined the 54 as Bangladesh’s pursuit gained momentum.

Hridoy led the pursuit towards the finish line with 31 balls 50 off-balls. He was locked up by Dushmantha Chameera on the 19th, but Shamin Hossain helped him finish the game despite the drama final.

This was the first successful 160 or more chase in Bangladesh’s 16 attempts. The previous case was in March 2024, against Sri Lanka.
