Trump administration threatens new sanctions against Harvard

The Trump administration escalated its fight against Harvard on Friday, putting Ivy League schools under additional financial surveillance and threatening sanctions if they do not provide additional data on admissions practices.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said the department has placed Harvard on “enhanced cash surveillance,” forcing schools to spend their own money to pay students financial aid and seeking a government refund.

She also threatened “additional enforcement measures” if the school took over the records and did not take over the records to prove that it no longer considered the race of admission.

Harvard did not respond to requests for comment.
