Liverpool manager Arne Slot brings the card closer to his chest for the possibility of Alexander Isaac against Everton from Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
The Swedish striker won Atletico Madrid 3-2 on Wednesday in the Champions League for the first time in months due to his controversy with Newcastle United and his long-term move to Liverpool.
“We need to see how they all feel,” Slots said ahead of their training Friday afternoon. “All I know is that Alex felt his body more than ever before after he played, so let’s see how he recovered. Then we’ll see the lineup.”
Slot also addressed the possibility of signing Hugo Ekitike ahead of time in the closed season with ISAK. This is a combination that can provide a new offensive dimension to the champion.
“If both of them are in the best form of their lives, you’ll consider playing them together more,” Slot said. “It’s clear that we have a specific structure of 4-3-3, but the number of times we finished the game with two nines has just as much happened.”
Liverpool is the only Premier League team with a perfect record, sitting on the table with four wins from four games, while Everton is sixth after a solid start to the season.
Liverpool managers thank Everton for Jota’s solidarity
Slot knows that the atmosphere in the derby at Anfield on Saturday will be electric, but the respect that Everton showed after the deaths of Liverpool forward Dio Gojota and his brother Andre Silva in a car crash in July would add another emotional layer to the game.
Everton striker born in Lisbon and former Portuguese player at the club Youssef Cermity, now with the Rangers, was one of the toffies who visited Anfield and paid tribute to Portuguese striker Jota shortly after the death of Portuguese striker Jota.
“They’re a good team and they have rivalries, but I like them too, and what I want to emphasize is what they did when Diogo passed away,” Slot said.
“In tragedy, it’s great to see the rivalry still there, but the respect for both is still there.”
Slot has some Merseyside Derby “debuters” but laughed at the suggestions that need to be prepared for the atmosphere.
“As for the new one, it’s not the first time you’re playing in a situation where there are a lot of rivalry and intensity in the game.”

Everton’s manager says Liverpool is “vulnerable”
Everton manager David Moet said taking on Liverpool has always been a difficult task for him, but he knew there were some vulnerabilities in the defending champion.
Moe, who has only won six of six of the 44 matches he played against Liverpool in his managerial career, said a visit to Anfield would help his team measure Everton’s quality after scoring seven points in his first four league matches.
“Liverpool has shown at various times that they showed that they showed some vulnerability when they acknowledged their goals,” Moe told reporters Friday.
“We need to try to take advantage of these moments. We played them at Anfield last year and lost an offside goal. We want to close and run again. Things are in the advantage this time.”
Liverpool won their first victory at Everton in three games when they defeated Moe’s side 1-0 on Jota’s second half strike in April.
“We’ve lost 27 while managing Everton, Manchester United and West Ham United,” said Moe, who suffered 27 losses.
Moys noted the threat of a late goal from Liverpool. Liverpool scored the victory on a delayed strike in all four league matches and a victory at Atletico on Wednesday.
“The better side is that it tends to tire you a little and change your focus. I have shown resilience in defense and I want to keep it up,” Scott said.
“It was the same as (former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson). He had Fergie’s time, and I think it would be the same in Liverpool.”
But Moet said Everton is always competitive against his local rivals.
“If you play in the Derby, or if you’re involved in something, I know that it’s always very important to win it if you can, that’s the job,” he added.
“I think everyone is fully aware of that. It’s a big game like this, led by the media and supporters, and it’s such a big one, and it’s come pretty early in the season, but it gives you the opportunity to see where you’re with one of the top teams.”
