Lionel Messi had goals and assists as Intermiami beat Seattle 3-1 about two weeks after losing to the Sounders in the League Cup final.
The Sounders beat Intermiami 3-0 in the League Cup on August 31, but Messi supported the open Jordi Alba with an outside pass from Foot in the 12 minutes, giving Heron an early lead on Tuesday night.

Messi received the ball on top in the 28th minute and nearly doubled his score when he tried to run again using the outside of his left foot, but the shot climbed Kalom from the post.
Alba returned the favor in the 41st minute, supporting Darts Messi, who got enough touch to make it 2-0.
“I’m always looking for him (Messi). He’s always looking for me. We’ve created a lot of goals and I hope that’s how it is until the end of our careers,” Alba said.
Ian Frey headed to Rodrigo de Paul’s corner in the opening minute of the second half, extending Inter’s lead to 3-0.
“It was definitely a bit of an extra motivation. After losing such a game, you should never forget it,” Frey recalls his rematch victory.
Vargas found the back of the net for Seattle’s goal in the 69th minute as the Mexican international scored their own Independence Day.
Intermiami was again without Luis Suarez. Luis Suarez spitted out a member of the Sounders coaching staff in the League Cup Finals for his second match with a three-game Major League Soccer (MLS) ban.
Messi had the opportunity to complete the brace in the 76th minute, but was rejected by Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei. Signing New Intermiami Signing Mateo Silvetti made his debut after arriving from the Boyhood Club in Messi, an elderly man from Newell, Argentina.
The MLS action will continue with both teams as Inter Miami Host DC unites on Saturday and Sounders face Austin FC on Sunday.
