YouTube said Tuesday that since 2021 it has paid more than $100 billion to creators, artists and media companies.

Surges are partly fueled by an increase in audience on connected televisions. The number of channels making more than $100,000 from their television screens has increased by 45% year-on-year, the company said.

YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Johanna Voolich praised the power of creators for “shaping culture and entertainment in ways we couldn’t imagine” in a release that unveils a benchmark and other set of new features.

The milestones are as follows: Google– Owned platforms are now in their 20th year and will solidify themselves as one of the world’s most lucrative media businesses.

YouTube announced its updated payout figures and a slate of new creator tools at its annual YouTube event in New York City.

The company has announced a new artificial intelligence tool for YouTube shorts, a short form vertical video product. Creators can turn live footage into clips edited using AI, adding music, migration and narration.

New features include the ability to change the dialogue from the target video to the songs used in abbreviations.

Google’s latest AI video generator, Veo 3, will also be integrated into shorts, YouTube said.

Google uses a subset of YouTube videos to train VEO 3. Surprisingly, many YouTube creators reported that CNBC reported in June.

YouTube turned 20 in April and announced that it had hosted more than 2 billion videos on its platform, including music, shorts and podcasts.

Last year, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said the company paid creators $70 billion between 2021 and 2024.
