WASHINGTON (AP) – Family of young Utah man accused of shooting Charlie Kirk He told authorities that he recently became “more political” and saw President Donald Trump’s allies as a man spreading hatred.
Tyler James Robinson, 22, Washington, Utah; Arrested All felony, all felony, on allegedly worsening murder, felony discharge of firearms causing serious physical harm, and obstruction of justice, were filed in court and according to a statement of causes that could have been released on Friday. The judge ordered him to be held without bail.
Utah records show that Robinson is registered to the ballot but is not affiliated with political parties. He was also listed as inactive. That means they didn’t vote in at least the last two general elections.

State and federal court records do not show any previous criminal cases in which he was involved.
His listed address in the statement of possible causes is a six-bedroom home of parents who own a granite countertop business and are registered to vote as a Republican.
It was not immediately clear Friday whether Robinson had a defense attorney who could comment on his behalf. Messages seeking comment on Friday along with his family, including his parents, were not responded.
According to a social media post, Robinson has two younger brothers, and his parents have been married for about 25 years. The family lives outside St. George, a southern city in the state. Utah Valley University The campus authorities say Robinson shot and killed Kirk.

According to a video reading his acceptance letter posted to the family’s social media accounts, he was a high school student who scored nationally in the 99th percentile nationally on a standardized test, and was recognized by Utah in 2021. According to a university spokesperson, he attended only one semester.
Robinson is currently registered as a third-year student in the Electric Apprentice Program at Dixie Technical College, St. George.
Social media posts by Robinson’s mother reflect active families on vacation to Disneyland, Hawaii, Caribbean and Alaska. They spent frequently outdoors – boating, fishing, ATV riding, ziplining, target shooting. A 2017 post shows the family visiting a military facility and posing with an assault rifle. Young Robinson is seen smiling as he grabs the handle of a 50 caliber heavy machine gun.
After graduating from high school in 2021, Robinson’s mother praised his eldest son on his social media page for his intelligence and academic success, and his parents helped him move to his dorms in the fall. She has not had any public Facebook posts since 2022.
The break in the incident told reporters Friday shortly after Robinson was taken into custody after Robinson’s family contacted a family friend with information that he had “confessions” or tacit involvement in the shooting.
Cox said it was believed that Robinson acted alone. The family said Robinson has “became more political in recent years,” Cox said Robinson described the recent family dinner where Kirk was scheduled to speak at UVU.
“They talked about why they didn’t like him and the perspective he had,” Cox said, referring to Robinson and an unknown member of the family. “The family also said that Kirk is full of hatred and spreading hatred.”
Authorities then interviewed Robinson’s friends and presented them with a series of messages about discords on social media platforms that Robinson discussed getting a gun.

When authorities detained him, court records show that Robinson was also wearing surveillance photos of people of interest and “consistent” clothing.
Cox said the ammunition discovered at the scene had sculptures that reference memetic culture and fascism.
