The first crunch game of the 2025 Asian Cup will appear in Group B and highly fantasize in a game where six-time winner Sri Lanka will join the Bangladeshi side and there is a very high chance that they will come a long way to determine the fate of the tough group.

Afghanistan has already run in a group of four teams in a victory over Hong Kong, while Bangladesh has also defeated the group opening match, with Sri Lanka probably feeling pressured to board on his first outing.

Al Jazeera Sport will see the battle between the two, hoping to lift the trophy following the final on September 28th.

What will Bangladeshi T20 form appear in the game?

Captain Litton Das’ 33-year-old half-century handed Bangladesh the opening victory in the Asian Cup on Thursday.

Bangladesh cruised 144-3 for a seven-wicket victory after Hong Kong, losing to Afghanistan in the opening game.

Lytton got off to a careful start after Purbeth Hossain Emon (19) was tricked by Ayush Shukla’s late ball and caught on a deep midwicket in the third.

Hong Kong attacked once more in the power play when Nizakat Khan returned from mid-off and grabbed the catch over his shoulder to dismiss Tanjid Hasan.

However, Litton and Towhid Hridoy (not 35) assured that Hong Kong did not sniff to repeat historic victory over Bangladesh at the 2014 T20 World Cup.

“It’s very important to win the first game,” Lytton said. “We played good cricket in the last few series, but in the Asian Cup, there’s a bit of pressure automatically.”

Bangladesh defeated both Pakistan and Sri Lanka 2-1 in the final two bilateral series.

What is the T20 form in Sri Lanka?

Kamil Mishara’s undefeated 73 warmed up to the Asian Cup with Sri Lanka winning Zimbabwe by eight wickets in Harare last Sunday, earning a 2-1 victory in the Twenty 20 series.

Zimbabwe batted after losing a toss and made 191-8, but Sri Lanka cruised to the target with 14 balls.

Mishara and Kusar Perera scored 117 runs in the undefeated third wicket stands as Sri Lanka completed a white ball double as they won the previous one-day international series against Zimbabwe 2-0.

Mishara, 24, who scored just 35 runs in the previous four T20I innings, hit three sixes and six fours out of the 43 balls he faced, marking with a knock that won the match.

“It’s a privilege to win a game for my country. It feels so good,” Mishara said.

“There was pressure, of course, but the coaching staff just told me to play a regular game. I just wanted to get into the rhythm and play a regular game.”

In addition to Bangladesh’s 2-1 series defeat, Sri Lanka lost their previous T20 Series 2-1 to host New Zealand in December and January.

What happened when Bangladesh last played Sri Lanka?

Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka with eight wickets, sealing off the three-game T20 bilateral series earlier this year.

Sri Lanka, who won a toss at Colombo, was limited to 132-7, with opener Pathum nissanka top scoring earning a 46-off 39 ball for the hosts.

However, only two other batters went 20, with Dasun Shanaka turning 7 and hitting 35-25 to increase the modest total.

Shak Mahedi Hasan did a short job of Tanjid Hasan’s unbeaten 73-off 47 chase after claiming 4-11 from Bangladesh’s four overs.

What is Bangladesh’s Asian Cup record?

Bangladesh has yet to win the Asian Cup, but we hope that each tournament passes will increase their experience and that they will soon win the trophy.

They were runner-up three times. The final was the 2018 final.

This was Bangladesh’s third appearance in four finals, with India claiming victory in the 2016 final, and Pakistan defeating them in 2012.

What is the record for the Asian Cup in Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka has already won six Asian Cup titles. The islanders finally lifted the trophy in 2022, defeating Pakistan in their home soil with 23 runs in the final.

Their first victory came when they defeated Pakistan in the second edition in 1986.

Between 1997 and 2008, Sri Lanka won three of four editions, and was the finalist who lost when Pakistan won the title in 2000.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka team news

After the opening victory, it appears that Bangladesh has not been changed to the group’s second crunch match.

Meanwhile, Janith Liyanage was late added to the Sri Lankan team in the Asian Cup. Seam Bowling All-Rounder’s addition to the team means that the Sri Lankans have 17 strong groups for the tournament.

Sri Lanka has chopped up and changed paths through a bilateral series against Zimbabwe. Nuwanidu Fernando was replaced by Kusar Perera’s final match.

Kamil Mishara was not selected for the first match of the 3-Game Series, and although the previous two played both, he played both the second and third games of the series.

Maheesh Theekshana was also dropped from the side from the second match and was replaced by Matheesha Pathirana.

Nuwan Thushara, like Theekshana, played the first match of the series, but was replaced by Binura Fernando in the last two games.
