Bangladesh avoided upset with the Asian Cup opener after Captain Litton Das reached a half-century with a seven-wicket T20 victory.

Skipper Litton Das scored a top score of 59 as Bangladesh defeated the lively Hong Kong with seven wickets in his first match of the Asian Cup.
Hong Kong posted 143-7 after Nizakat Khan scored 42 in the T20 meeting in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. There, the minnow was first hit.

Bangladesh lost two early wickets in the pursuit, raising hopes for Hong Kong’s upset, but Litton reached 144-3 in 17.4 overs with Towhid Hridoy, who made an unbeaten 35.
Lytton reached 50 with 33 balls, but fell to medium-paced bowler ateeq iqbal before Tohide scored the victory.
This was Hong Kong’s second defeat in Group B, which includes Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Afghanistan beat Hong Kong with 94 runs in the tournament opener.
Hong Kong lost two early wickets before Nizakat was paired with Zeeshan Ali, who made 30 at the third wicket stand of 41.
Nizakat then entered into another 46 partnership with skipper Yasim Murtaza.
Murtuza was exhausted and leg spinner Rishad Hossain attacked twice in the next over as Hong Kong’s batting lineup uttered towards the end, including Nizakat’s key wicket.
Pace Bowratanjim Hasansakib stood out with numbers 2-21 from his 4 overs. Taskin Ahmed and Rishad also took two wickets.
In response, Bangladesh slid 47-2 before Riton and Touhid rebuild the innings, then bossing the opposition bowling.
Pakistan will launch a campaign against Dubai’s Oman on Friday.
In addition to local bragging rights, the Twenty20 competition will accumulate for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka from February to March.
