Update: Person detained by authorities in connection with the shooting death of Charlie Kirk has been released.
“The subject in custody was announced after law enforcement interrogation,” FBI director Kash Patel wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on the evening of September 10th.
The shooters remain large.

New information has been revealed surrounding Charlie Kirk’s deadly shooting.
Hours after the 31-year-old conservative activist was shot dead at a lecture event at Utah Valley University, the FBI confirmed that the person was in custody.
“The subject of today’s horrifying shooting that took the life of Charlie Kirk is currently in custody,” FBI director Kash Patel tweeted on September 10th. ”
He added that the agency will provide the latest updates in cases where “when possible.”
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox further confirmed at a press conference on September 10 that “interested persons” were in custody. Officials said they are sure it was a shooter.
Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, told CNN when the suspect fired a gunshot from the Loss Center in the building about 200 yards away on September 10, about 20 minutes after his presentation in Orem, Utah.
