Some users scratched their heads with the internet’s new favorite slang terminology.
The expression “67” (pronounced “6-7”) has been gaining popularity on social media, but the importance of numbers remains a mystery to some.
The origin of the term is traced back to the song “Doot Doot” by Skrilla. The rapper frequently recites the lyrics “Six-Seven.” The track went viral as a sound on Tiktok in late 2024, with thousands of users added to the upload, and the song officially released as a single in February 2025.
Meanwhile, the meaning of “67” has been more debated. That’s probably intentionally. Some people define expressions, especially when paired with balanced movements of both hands, meaning “SO,” but content creator Philip Lindsay summed up as intentionally confused.
“Now I’m just trying to use it to get someone to refer to No. 67,” he said in a video posted in August for Tiktok. “There’s no real meaning to it. It’s a fun number to say it’s popularized by hand-moving memes, and that doesn’t mean anything.”
