Uber New format for ride-sharing: working on helicopters.
On Wednesday, Ridehale Company said it will release Blade Helicopter Rides in 2026 through its partnership with 2026. Joby Aviationelectric taxi manufacturer.
The announcement comes after Joby ended its $125 million acquisition of helicopter and air carrier Blade in August. This transaction does not include our medical organ transplantation division. Blade says it chartered at least 50,000 passengers from 12 city terminals last year.
“Integrating blades into the Uber app is a natural next step in our global partnership with Uber and will lay the foundation for the introduction of quiet, zero-emissions in the coming years,” Joeben Bevirt, founder and CEO of Joby, said in a press release.
Uber has long been aiming to bring air transport to the platform.
The company first announced its partnership with Joby in 2019. Uber then sold the Elevate Flying Taxi Division to Joby in 2020.
Uber president and manager Andrew Macdonald said the partnership will guide customers on “next-generation travel” and build on years of belief in air transport. The company said it will provide details on bookings that will bring it closer to its debut.
For years, Joby has been fighting his competitors and bringing air taxi solutions to the market. Proponents of the technology say it can curb traffic congestion and reduce emissions, but businesses are seeking regulatory approval from the Federal Aviation Administration.
