One iguana puts a new spin on the concept of independence.

“These babies are special,” the organization announced in its social media post on August 14th that the baby was born. “These little lizards have no father at all – they are born from the formation of parten! This means that babies are genetic clones of mothers. An astonishing, unusual natural phenomenon that occurs in reptiles, invertebrates and other animals!”
Although it is sometimes referred to as sterile formation (sometimes when unfertilized eggs develop in the embryo, resulting in a genetic replica of the mother,” it is common among many plants and invertebrates, such as ants and honeybees, the phenomenon that occurs among vertebrates is very rare.
As zoo owner Scott Adams told the BBC on September 9, “When I confirmed that the egg was fertile and without contact with the man, my jaw hit the floor.”
