The look of the old country store has been restored.
Cracker Barrel On Tuesday it announced that all restaurant modifications were suspended. This is the latest chapter in the rebranding debate that has reached the oval office.
The restaurant chain first set fire to the Firestorm in late August when it unveiled its new logo. This disposes the character of “Uncle Herschel” and removes the term “Old Country Store” to make it slippery. The change has faced widespread backlash on social media, including President Donald Trump.
In addition to rebranding the logo, the company also planned to update the restaurant’s exterior. The chain said it had tested more modern layouts in four of its 660 locations, but its customer feedback has led to the process being stopped completely.
“I’ve heard clearly that modern modified designs do not reflect what cracker barrels like,” the company said in a statement. “The vintage Americana you love is always here. It was pulled straight from a warehouse in Lebanon, Tennessee, rocking chairs, fireplaces, peg games, unique treasures in gift shops.”
Cracker Barrel is one of several companies that have recently faced pushback from customers on reforms ranging from name changes to logo redesign.
A week after unveiling the new logo, the cracker barrel announced that it would return to the older version and send more than 8% in one day.
The restaurant chain’s rebranding efforts date back to the “Strategic Change Plan” announced in 2024. This includes “store and guest experiences.” At the time, Cracker Barrel said it would remodel between 25 and 30 stores in 2025.
“Of course, we will continue to invest in restaurants to make sure they are in good condition and meet your expectations,” Cracker Barrel said in a statement Tuesday.
