NFL MVP Joshua Allen has left Nike Sign an approval agreement with the new balance.
The Buffalo Bills quarterback released the news in a letter to his hometown in Fireboe, California on Friday. The deal is a big win for Massachusetts-based New Balance.
Allen has been a Nike athlete since joining the league in 2018. Swoosh has faced headwinds in recent years as innovation has declined and sales have fallen.
The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed, but New Balance is committed to funding the Firebaugh Community Youth Sports program as part of the agreement.
“I’m proud to be part of the New Balance Family, a brand that is built on family, community and credibility, like Firebaugh,” Allen said in the letter.

Firebaugh, he said, is not only where Allen grew up, but also where he first trained and developed his passion for football.
“Firebaugh didn’t have quarterback camps or private trainers. We had a heart. We had a community. We didn’t trade anything about it,” Allen said in the letter.
Allen is one of the league’s biggest stars and has led bills into the playoffs for the sixth year in a row. He was also featured in HBO’s “Hard Knock: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills,” which aired the finale on Tuesday.
A rapid expansion of the athlete’s roster, New Balance represents other well-known stars, including tennis player Cocogoff, MLB’s Shohei Ohtani and WNBA’s Cameron Brink.
“As New Balance continues to grow its football family, we are honored to welcome Joshu Allen on the field, welcome in the community and lead the next chapter,” the company said in a statement.
Earlier this week, Allen announced that she will be joining Therabody as the first performance advisor for the fitness recovery brand.
