After TBBT ended, Parsons starred in The Boys in the Band (both the Tony Award-winning stage version and the 2020 film adaptation) and was nominated for an Emmy again for Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series Hollywood.
In addition to his Broadway credits on Mother Play, Our Town and Titanic, he also narrated and executive produced the prequel spin-off Young Sheldon from 2017 to 2024, but has since indicated he has no intention of returning to the role.
The actor, who married film producer Todd Spiewak in 2017, noted how “stressful and miserable” it was to commit fully to the role, and said on a July 2026 episode of the podcast “All Out with John Dean” that she “would never do it again” if given the chance to return, even if she received a hefty paycheck.
