Washington (AP) – Survivors Jeffrey Epstein Sexual abuse heard on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, pushing the president back by pressure lawmakers to force late investors to release a sex trafficking investigation Donald Trump’s Efforts to dismiss this issue as a “hoologue.”

The woman shared for the first time at a press conference on the Capitol lawn, which depicted the chant “releasing files” with hundreds of supporters – how he was invited to Epstein’s abuse by his ex-girlfriend; Ghislaine Maxwell. They demanded that the Trump administration provide transparency and accountability for what it endured as a teenager.

It was an impressive position as it reached a pivotal moment in Washington to promote the disclosure of the so-called Epstein Files. Lawmakers are fighting over how Congress should delve into the Epstein saga, but the Republican president has dismissed the issue as a “Democrat hoax” after first letting the support of transparency in the campaign’s trajectory.

“No matter what you do, it’s about to continue,” Trump said Wednesday. He added, “I really think that’s enough.”

However, Capitol Hill survivors and at least one of Trump’s closest allies in Congress disagreed. Some women have pleaded Trump to support his cause.

“It feels like you want to explode in the middle because you don’t understand that this is a real situation. These women are real. We’re meeting in person here.

Epstein committed suicide in a Manhattan prison while awaiting trial in 2019 on charges that he said he had trafficked dozens of minor girls. The lawsuit comes more than a decade after secretly cutting contracts with federal prosecutors in Florida to dispose of nearly identical claims. Epstein Condemned Paying minor girls hundreds of dollars of cash for massages and abuse them.

Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime confidant and ex-girlfriend, was convicted in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Invite a teenage girl For him to abuse. The four women testified at her trial that they were abused as teens by Epstein in their homes in Florida, New York and New Mexico in the 1990s and early 2000s. Trump’s Allies Cross Party Lines

Georgia representative Marjorie Taylor GreenTypically, those who work closely with Trump explained her support for a bill that forces the Justice Department to publish compiled information on Epstein and Maxwell as a moral battle against sexual predation.

“This is not one of the political parties. It’s the culmination of all who are working together to silence these women and protect Jeffrey Epstein and his Cabal,” Greene said at a press conference.

She also told reporters that she spoke with Trump on Wednesday to tell her that she should host survivors in an oval office that she said “is not a rich and powerful friend of Jeffrey Epstein.”

Greene opposed House GOP leadership and the White House, one of four Republicans (three of them women) to vote for the bill. House Speaker Mike Johnson is trying to counteract the efforts by bringing his own resolution and arguing that a simultaneous investigation by the House Oversight Committee is the best way for Congress to provide transparency.

“I think the surveillance probes will be wide and vast. They will follow the truth wherever it leads,” R-La. Johnson said.

He added that the White House has adhered to the committee to make information public and spoke with Trump on Tuesday night. “He says, ‘Get it and put it all there,” Johnson told reporters.

Oversight Committee Released on Tuesday night What it said was the first tranche of documents and files received from the Department of Justice in the Epstein case. The folder posted to Google Drive contained hundreds of image files from long-standing court filings related to Epstein, but in fact it didn’t contain any new ones.

Warning from the White House

Meanwhile, the White House warned that support for the bill would be considered hostile as a measure of requiring DOJ to release the files. manager Thomas Masseya Kentucky Republican seeking the bill said the White House is sending that message because “they dug up.”

“They decided they didn’t want to release it,” he said. “It’s a political threat.”

but, Trump sends a strong message And Massie was left behind, with Republican leadership moving forward with alternative resolutions and seeking support from at least two Republicans trying to cross political boundaries. It takes six GOP members and all House Democrats to force their vote on the bill. And even if it passes the house, it still needs to pass the Senate and be signed by Trump.

Survivors speak out

Still, the survivors saw this moment as their best chance for years to gain some justice for what was done by Epstein. One survivor, Chauntae Davies, said she recalled how she felt helpless when she saw how Epstein was connected to some of the richest and most powerful people in the world. Davis said he once travelled to Africa with Epstein on a trip that includes former President Bill Clinton and other notable people.

“He boasted about his powerful friends, including current President Donald Trump, which was actually his biggest boast,” Davis said.

Now, the woman says it’s time to reveal the full accounting of everyone involved or conspires with Epstein’s actions. Some of them are compiling a list of people who may be involved but are still deliberating whether to make it public for fear of potential impact.

Bradley Edwards, an attorney representing many of the survivors, refuted the notion that Epstein holds a list of clients, but said others were still involved.

“His plan was to personally abuse women,” Edwards said. “When they reached a certain age, he farmed some of them, some of them, to some of his friends. That doesn’t mean all of his friends.”

Ultimately, the woman said she spoke out in the hopes of lawmakers and federal officials acting to ensure that abusers like Epstein were not allowed to be underestimated or allowed to continue abuse. They were especially humiliated that Maxwell had recently I moved to a minimum security prison camp. In Texas.

“Justice and accountability are not good for someone strong. They are decades of duty,” Jess Michaels said he was first abused by Epstein in 1991, but told Capitol Lawn rally. “This moment began with Epstein’s crime, but it is remembered by survivors who demand justice, truth, and accountability.”
