More information has come to light since Sam Neill’s death.
Three days after the Jurassic Park star passed away at the age of 78, manager Philip Grenz confirmed to TMZ that Neil died of pneumonia and was unrelated to Neil’s 2022 lymphoma diagnosis, which he was declared cancer-free earlier this year.
To Neal’s friends and loved ones, the suspicion was that he talked about his health struggles as casually as he did about cancer, as if they were just a nuisance.
His friend and Hunt for the Wilder People co-star Rima Te Wiata told the New Zealand Herald. “He’ll say, ‘For God’s sake, I beat cancer. And, lo and behold, now I got pneumonia. What’s next?'”
Ms Te Wiata said she was relieved to learn that her friend was “on a big journey”, but suspected her friend was “frustrated” by the way he was going.
In fact, this sentiment is one she echoes almost word for word with Neil, with the Peaky Blinders alum previously saying that the only reason he didn’t want to die was because of the daily wonders he would leave behind on his New Zealand farm.
