According to state media, the Jordanian military announced that its air defense forces intercepted and shot down eight Iranian missiles fired toward the country early Thursday morning local time.
Jordan’s military said debris from the intercept fell in several places, but no injuries or damage were reported, the official Petra news agency said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency and Press TV reported that the Iranian military claimed to have targeted U.S. military facilities in Jordan, including launching drone attacks on communications systems and fuel depots at Al-Azraq Air Base.
U.S. Central Command has not commented on the Iranian report, and CNN cannot independently verify the claims.
Other local attacks: Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said sirens blared throughout the night warning residents to evacuate.
And Kuwait’s air defenses are “facing hostile drone attacks,” the Army Chiefs of Staff said. Iran claimed to have targeted US infrastructure at a military base in Kuwait, the semi-official Tasnim news agency said.
