Erling Haaland deserves re-evaluation after Channing Tatum transformed him into a soccer star at the World Cup
Carli Lloyd was a midfielder, but after retiring she became a striker.
Following the U.S. men’s national team’s 4-1 loss to Belgium in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup on July 6, the soccer player-turned-commentator shared her candid thoughts on the team’s performance.
“I feel like they lost the game before they even got on the field,” Lloyd said on FOX Sports’ postgame broadcast. “And I don’t know why. I don’t know why. But from the beginning, I was just chasing, I was hesitant, I was scared, I just didn’t have confidence on the ball.”
She also specifically targeted 27-year-old Christian Pulisic, a team member nicknamed “Captain America.”
“I think all the big players, we wanted the big players to step up in big moments,” she said. “And to be honest, I was a little disappointed with Christian Pulisic. Whether he wants to be the star of this team or not, we didn’t see enough production from him in this game, and really throughout the World Cup. Only little glimpses here and there.”
