Adam Sandler shares marriage advice for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey, who officiated their wedding
Kirk Schwabe has always been and always will be Taylor Swift’s biggest fan.
Schwabe’s family told the Telegraph that the former Chicago police officer, who had mentored Swift in high school before becoming one of Swift’s bodyguards early in her career, died in New York after a battle with cancer on July 3, the same day Swift married Travis Kelce. He was 69 years old.
“My father had a wonderful way of making people feel seen, valued and protected,” his daughter told the outlet. “He cared deeply about people, whether it was his family, one of his students, or someone who crossed his path like Taylor. That’s the legacy he leaves behind.”
In fact, Schwabe and Swift first crossed paths in 2004, two years before releasing her debut album, when she taught criminal justice at a Nashville high school. Only five years later, as her career began to reach new heights, at the request of her family, he quit his teaching job and became her bodyguard.
Schwabe recalled this period in the Grammy winner’s life in an interview with the Telegraph days before his death.
