Former Barcelona forward and Ballon d’Or candidate Oshuara will leave San Francisco for the Saudi women’s league.
Released on September 2, 2025
Nigerian forward Ajisato Oshioara has joined Saudi Women’s Premier League club Alhiral on her transfer from Bay FC in the National Women’s Football League.
The terms of the contract have not been disclosed. Nigeria International, 30, has signed a two-year contract with Alhiral.
Oshoala joined Bay FC before her first season from Barcelona in 2024, winning two Women’s Champions League titles. She scored a team-high seven goals in her first year with the San Francisco Bay Area team.
The 30-year-old scored Bay FC’s first franchise goal on March 17, 2024, in the 17th minute of the match against Angel City.
“Asisat is a very important part of Bay FC’s history, and she brought it every day, not only through the impact she had on the pitch, but also through the energy, professionalism and kindness she brought every day,” Bay sports director Matt Pattern said in a statement prepared Tuesday.
“She’s a world class player and even better, and we’re grateful for all she’s contributed to our club in her first season.”

Oshoala, an African player six times a year and her last player in 2023, was with the Nigerian team that won her 10th Africa Cup of Nations title in July.
Born in Ikorodu, Oshuara was also the first African woman to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or Prize. The title is considered to represent the best players in the world each year.
She missed the 2022 award for Alexia Peteras in Spain. That year also marked her sixth and final African Women’s Player of the Year award.
Oshioarah joins Al-Hilal and Nigerians Ashley Plantre and Francisca Aussia.
