Reuters —

Drones and artillery killed civilians on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine border on Saturday, local officials said.

In the Russian border region of Bryansk, a Ukrainian military drone strike killed two people in a car in a village near the border, the region’s deputy governor Egor Kovalchuk announced on Telegram.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that 124 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian territory between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. (1 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT), Russian news agencies reported.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has issued a series of lengthy statements about the interception of a Ukrainian drone heading for the capital. An unofficial tally by Russian news agencies put the figure that day at 24.

In Ukraine, Governor Oleksandr Ganza of southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region announced that one person was killed and another injured in more than 40 drone strikes and shelling near Nikopol.

The town, located across the Dnipro River from the Russian-owned Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, is a frequent Russian target.

Denis Pushilin, the Moscow-appointed head of the Russian-controlled region of Ukraine’s Donetsk region, said on Telegram that two people were killed in Ukrainian military drone strikes in the main cities of Horlivka and Makyivka.
