FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed plans to have US President Donald Trump attend the trophy presentation ceremony at the World Cup final.
“We will enjoy the finals with the president and hand the trophy to the winner. Of course we will be together,” Infantino said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday morning.

When asked specifically if he and Trump would present the trophy together at the July 19 game in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Infantino added, “Of course. We’ll always be together.”
Trump attracted attention when he attended the ceremony for last year’s Club World Cup final, in which Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 at the same venue.

He remained on stage as Chelsea lifted the trophy. The trophy was later discovered in the Oval Office, and Chelsea reportedly received a replica version.
The Athletic, citing FIFA sources, said Infantino is aiming to play as many games as possible in this tournament.
