Fifteen-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, wearing the official India jersey for the first time, said he had dreamed of this moment for a long time.
After sweeping the batting awards in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), Suryavanshi was selected in India’s T20 squad for tours to Ireland and England, as well as the Asian Games. Sooryavanshi could make his debut for India in the first T20 match against Ireland in Belfast on Friday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday released a video of the moment Suryavanshi was delivered the blue jersey, calling it “the moment the country has been waiting for”.
“I have been dreaming of this moment since the first time I picked up a bat and entered the cricket field for practice. … This feeling cannot be explained in words,” Sooryavanshi said in a BCCI video.
He was shown unpacking a shirt with his name written above the number 03 on the back.
Suryavanshi is likely to become India’s youngest international player, surpassing the great batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who made his Test debut in 1989 at the age of 16 years and 205 days.
Suryavanshi has been in the spotlight since his batting success in the IPL, where he scored 776 runs for Rajasthan Royals and became the tournament’s top scorer.
He won the Orange Cap with one century and five and a half centuries during the season, becoming the top run-getter.
