The music industry is in mourning.
Tay Keith, a prominent hip-hop producer behind such Diamond-certified hits as Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” was found dead in his apartment on June 18, according to Tennessee State Police. He was 29 years old.
Metro Nashville Police said in a statement on Twitter that “foul play is not suspected.” “He was found dead in his Martin Street apartment this afternoon by officers conducting a welfare check. His death remains unclassified pending autopsy results.”
His official cause of death has not been released.
Memphis native Keith (real name Brightavius LaKeith Chambers) is a frequent collaborator with Drake, contributing to the orchestration of countless popular songs in the Canadian music catalog, including 21 Save The album also includes “Nonstop,” “Look Alive,” and “Rich Flex” featuring Ji, and earned Keith his second Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song in 2024, following 2019’s “Sicko Mode.”
Adding to Keith’s many successes in helping shape hip-hop culture, the artist recently licensed Sexy Red’s song “Get It Sexy” for the second episode of the final season of Euphoria. This was one of several songs he wrote with Red, especially the joint single “Pound Town”.
