Spain winger Lamine Yamal is fit and ready to come off the bench for the first World Cup game, but coach Luis de la Fuente says his inclusion will depend on how things play out in Group H against Cape Verde.
“The good news is that Lamine is very healthy,” de la Fuente told reporters on Sunday.

Yamal has not played since April, with the 18-year-old suffering from a groin problem and a hamstring injury. He missed the recent friendly against Spain, but his coach has expressed no concerns about his fitness. The situation is the same for Nico Williams and Victor Munoz.
“He’s following the set process and he’s doing well. Like all of his injured colleagues, he’s been training very well,” coach de la Fuente said.
“They are all available, but they will not be able to play from the start of the game. We will see how the game progresses and then decide how they can contribute to the team.”
“It’s a question of logic and how the game is evolving and the context of the game.”

Spain starts as favorites
European champions and 2010 World Cup winners Spain go into the tournament as among the favorites to lift the trophy, but de la Fuente won’t take Cape Verde for granted in their World Cup debut.
“If you haven’t seen them play yet, you’ll be watching tomorrow,” he said.
“Tactically, they are a very well-composed team and have developed their tactical concepts very well. Their players are very strong from a physical point of view. They are very fast and knocked out Cameroon. They are very fast and knocked out Cameroon.”
“They could be one of the surprise teams in this World Cup. Tomorrow we need to perform at our best and even if we win, we will definitely struggle. The people, everyone will discover tomorrow what they can do.”
Saudi Arabia and Uruguay are the other teams in the group. They meet in Miami on Monday.
