Amal Clooney’s birthday gift to George Clooney could have been unbearably cruel.
In fact, the Intolerable Cruelty star revealed that his wife went all out for his 65th birthday, which included a crazy surprise.
At the King’s Trust’s 50th anniversary celebrations on May 11, Amal told British Vogue: “I actually surprised him with a lot of things for his birthday,” to which George interjected: “Well, she turned up with a friend of mine posing for it.”
As Amal, 48, explained, they were “pretending to be waiters”.
But George said he can’t accept surprises like he used to.
“It’s dangerous to surprise someone who’s 65, because they could fall off,” the Gravity star quipped. “You have to be very careful when surprising people because that could be the end for you.”
As for what happened after the surprise, George joked: “Oh, well, I’m still standing, just barely.”
The couple, who share 9-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, also shared some of their best wisdom for children.
“You can’t mix grains and grapes,” George said jokingly. “I think it’s important for kids to know that they shouldn’t confuse the two.”
