The secret to even skin? Using multiple shades on your face
According to Myricks, there is no single foundation that is a perfect match. Instead, it should match different shades of your face. “We’ve been sold a myth,” Myricks told E! “Everyone is looking for the right foundation for themselves, and when you look at it, your face has more dimension.”
No one has a single shade across their face, whether they have age spots or pigmentation. Usually, the inner part has a lighter shade and the outer part has a darker shade.
“If you find one thing that you can apply to your entire face, it’s probably going to cover more and even out all the beautiful things about your facial dimensions,” she said. “(That’s why) I have to go back and add blush, bronzer, contour. I erased it, so I have to bring all those elements back.”
Myricks’ advice is to use different shades depending on your face size, or if you have unwanted blemishes or redness, use corrective pigments to seamlessly balance your face.
“The area around my mouth is probably four shades deeper than the rest of my face. So I have to think differently. I have to think about correcting and neutralizing those tones so that it looks more even-toned,” Myricks told E!
