Ashley Graham is squarely joining the conversation about weight loss pills.
The supermodel, a longtime advocate of body positivity, shared her candid thoughts on how weight loss injections have affected her workouts.
“I was really disappointed,” Ashley told Marie Claire in an interview published April 30. “The pendulum has swung towards body acceptance and positivity (and) allowing everyone to be who they want to be,” she said.
“And now it’s going back in the exact opposite direction, and it feels like a punch in the face for women who have felt like they’ve been given a voice,” she added.
She pointed out that like other trends, weight loss injections such as Ozempic, Munjaro, and Wigoby come and go, and shared that women’s bodies should not be treated the same way.
“It’s a trend, and GLP-1 is a trend,” Ashley explained. “We know that there have always been and will always be women who are considered plus size. This drug is not going to completely erase that statistic for women.”
Despite the growing popularity of weight loss pills, the 38-year-old explains why the body positivity movement is here to stay.
