The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that it supports FIFA president Gianni Infantino for a fourth term as head of world football’s governing body.
CAF said in a statement after a meeting before the FIFA General Assembly in Vancouver that it had “unanimously agreed” to support Infantino in his bid for re-election as FIFA president in 2027.

Infantino became FIFA president in 2016 following a corruption scandal that led to the ouster of his predecessor, Sepp Blatter.
He was re-elected in 2019 and 2023.
FIFA legislation limits the term of FIFA president to three terms, but Infantino will be allowed to stand for re-election next year after a ruling ruled that his first partial term from 2016 to 2019 after Blatter’s ouster would not count toward his total.
CAF’s decision to support Infantino comes after South American soccer governing body CONMEBOL also pledged support to Swiss and Italian officials in early April.
