Koby Mainu has signed a new contract with Manchester United that will keep him at the club until 2031, ending months of uncertainty over his future.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined United’s academy in 2014 and has already made 98 appearances for the club, scoring the winning goal in the 2024 FA Cup final and featuring for England in the Euro 2024 final.

“Manchester United has always been my home. This special club means everything to my family,” Mainoo said.
“I have grown up watching the impact the club has on the city, so I enjoy the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.”
Mainu had lost his place in the team under former United manager Ruben Amorim and there was growing speculation that he could leave the club.
Michael Carrick, who is expected to take over as the new permanent manager this summer, reinstated Mainu into the starting XI as soon as he took over as interim head coach.
United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Mainu as one of the “most talented young footballers in the world”.
“His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a real credit to our excellent academy system,” he said.
“We are delighted that Coby has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he is ready to develop into one of the best players in the world and play a central role in a Manchester United team that challenges for the biggest honours.”
