Verity is based on Colleen Huber’s best-selling novel of the same name.
In the 2018 romantic thriller, struggling writer Rowen Ashley is hired by Jeremy Crawford to complete a popular series written by Verity Crawford, the famous author’s wife, after Verity Crawford, the famous author’s wife, is unable to complete the project due to an accident.
Rowen moves in with the Crawfords and begins digging through a pile of notes about Verity’s book. But in the process, she discovers Verity’s unfinished autobiography, which contains a shocking confession. Rowen initially decides not to reveal the manuscript to Jeremy, but changes her mind when she begins to like him.
So far, the movie seems to be pretty close to the original.
The film’s logline, obtained by Variety, reads: “Upon arriving at the luxurious Crawford mansion, Rowen discovers an unfinished secret manuscript that could reveal chilling confessions about her family’s past, and slowly learns that things are not as they seem.” “As Rowen takes in Jeremy and his young son Clu, he must find out whether Verity’s writings are simply humorous works of fiction or ominous warnings from a deranged psychopath.”
