Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has already been sent off in a Spanish second-division game and faces a long-term ban for punching a Huesca player in the face.
The 35-year-old Argentina international shoved Jorge Pulido and was sent off for the incident on Sunday.
Andrada became furious and ran towards Pulido, causing a scuffle on the pitch in stoppage time against Derby.
In the aftermath, Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza’s Dani Tasende were also sent off, and hosts Huesca held on to win 1-0.
Andrada, who is on loan from Mexican side Monterrey, could face a suspension of up to 12 games for the punching offense, in addition to the mandatory one-match sanction for a red card.
Zaragoza said in a statement: “We witnessed a scene that has no place in our sport and should never happen.”
“The club strongly condemns what has happened at this moment, as it is an unacceptable desecration of a particularly important football match for this region. This is unacceptable.
“Regarding our player Esteban Andrada, the club will analyze the events that occurred and take appropriate disciplinary measures.”
Zaragoza and Huesca are both in the relegation zone, vying for relegation to Spain’s third tier.
