Call Shailene Woodley.
Author Veronica Roth has revealed that she is writing two new books about the world of Divergent, announcing at New York Book Con that the two books, called The Sixth Faction, will be published on October 6th.
Fifteen years after she published the first book in her dystopian Divergent series, the film will be released in 2014, starring Woodley as heroine Beatrice “Tris” Prior and Theo James as Tobias “Four” Eaton.
But the new novel is not a sequel, but instead imagines what would have happened if Tris had chosen a different path for herself.
“It’s not a prequel, it’s not a sequel, it’s not a spinoff, it’s not a different POV, it’s an alternate version of Divergent where Tris chooses a different faction,” Ross said in an April 18 interview with USA Today. “I think the question, ‘Who is Tris without Dauntless?’ is an interesting question.”
So what can fans expect from these two books?
“In ‘The Sixth Faction,’ Beatrice Prior stands on the brink of a decision that everyone in her world must make: five factions, five futures, five lives,” reads the synopsis from publisher HarperCollins. “She has a plan. She will make the bravest choice and leave Abnegation behind to join Dauntless, even if it means leaving her family behind.”
