Let’s hope there aren’t any new fights with security on Oscar night.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences publicly condemned Teyana Taylor, who was shoved by a security guard as she tried to walk onto the stage after winning Best Picture for the film “One Battle After Another” at a ceremony on March 15. “We are deeply disturbed to learn of what Teyana Taylor endured at the end of last night’s Oscar ceremony,” the organization that oversees the Oscars told Variety in a March 16 statement. “We have worked with Teyana over the past few months during awards season and she has been amazing, supportive, kind and community-minded.”
Their statement continued: “While this incident was the work of our external security company SIS, each guest’s experience is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is unacceptable.”
The academy added, “We would like to thank Teyana for showing great grace. We are taking appropriate steps to ensure this never happens again.”
