EJAE looks back on what could have been a golden moment.
The singer-songwriter and his collaborators made 2026 Oscar history by winning Best Original Song for K-Pop Demon Hunters’ “Golden,” but their speech was abruptly cut short. As for what she could have said to cap off the historic moment, she admitted there were some special people she wanted them to acknowledge.
After winning the March 15 event, EJAE told reporters about his Kpop Demon Hunters bandmates, “I couldn’t go because it was canceled midway through, but I wanted to thank Ley Ami and Audrey Nuna.” “They captivated people with their songs. They are truly wonderful people and I love them so much.”
After the song’s historic victory as the first K-Pop song to win in the category, 34-year-old EJAE took to the stage with five collaborators. (Mark Sonnenblick, Jun Gyu Kwak, Yoo Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jung Hoon Seo, and Teddy Park all shared this honor).
EJAE began her speech by thanking those who made the award possible, but then one of her co-authors approached the microphone with a piece of paper in hand.
