Google announced Wednesday that it is bringing Chrome’s Gemini integration to new regions including India, Canada, and New Zealand. With this rollout, users will be able to use Gemini in Chrome from their desktop sidebar to ask Google’s AI chatbot questions about the content on their screen, get information from Gmail, Keep, Drive, and YouTube, and compare content in their tabs.
As part of the new rollout, Gemini will also support languages including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil, in addition to English and other languages newly supported in Chrome.

Google first introduced Gemini to Chrome in the US through a floating window last September. The company introduced its sidebar-based Gemini tool earlier this year.
Users with access to this feature will see an “Ask Gemini” icon in their tab bar. Activate this icon on any tab to ask questions, summarize content, or create quizzes to understand the topic. Google says Gemini can also work across tabs. This means you can refer to multiple tabs and get answers, which can be helpful when comparing products to shop for or tickets to travel.
Gemini can also connect to various tools to retrieve information and provide more personalized answers. Connect to Gmail, Maps, Calendar, YouTube, and other Google apps to get answers in context. For example, you can use Gemini directly in the Chrome sidebar to compose an email and send it to someone without leaving the window. You can also ask Gemini to summarize your YouTube videos and list the main points next to the timestamp markers. Your assistant can also schedule meetings and outline your day.
Users can also use Google’s Nano Banana 2 generation AI tool directly in Gemini for Chrome to convert images. For example, when purchasing furniture, you can upload a photo of your room and ask the Assistant to convert the image to see how the item will look in the room.

In addition to desktop, the company said it will also roll out Gemini support in Chrome for iOS in India. If available, the option is displayed in the address bar through the page tools icon.

In January, Google launched an enhanced agent feature for U.S.-based AI Pro and AI Ultra users that can take over your browser and complete tasks on your behalf. The company has excluded this feature in its latest expansion for users in India, New Zealand, and Canada.
