Iran and its proxies continued their attacks on U.S. allies in the Gulf on Thursday morning, as the war entered its sixth day and the impact on ships increased, with one ship sunk in international waters off the coast of Sri Lanka.
Here’s what we’re seeing:
HIGH SEA: An Iranian warship has sunk in the Indian Ocean and a US submarine torpedoed it, killing more than 80 people, Sri Lankan officials said.
Iran: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday night that Israeli forces had launched a series of high-level airstrikes across Tehran targeting “military infrastructure belonging to the Iranian regime.” The attack was Israel’s 11th attack on Tehran since February 28. More than 1,100 people have been killed in Iran since the war began, according to the U.S.-based Human Rights Defenders News Agency.
Israel: According to the Israeli military, Iran launched three waves of missiles toward Israel overnight. The latest barrage just before 4 a.m. set off sirens in Jerusalem and central Israel.
Lebanon: Israeli overnight attacks hit several headquarters in the Lebanese capital Beirut belonging to the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah, the Israel Defense Forces said.
Saudi Arabia: The Ministry of Defense announced that Saudi Arabia intercepted and destroyed four waves of missiles approaching its central and northern regions. He did not say where the weapon was fired.
Bahrain: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has launched a drone attack on an Amazon data center, Iran’s state-run Fars news agency reported. Fars said the attack was carried out to determine how such centers support the military and intelligence activities of Tehran’s adversaries.
Kuwait: Oil is leaking from a tanker anchored offshore after a nearby explosion. Britain’s marine tracking agency said crew members reported seeing a large explosion on the left side of the small vessel before it left the area.
