Is there one thing that hasn’t been written? How Christine felt about her 13-year age difference with ex-boyfriend Mark Estes.
“Dating a 24-year-old me is not what I was looking for,” the Hills alum said on a March 2024 episode of the Let’s Be Honest podcast. “I never thought something like this would happen. If you listen to the podcast, you’ll know that 30 years is too young for me.”
While Kristin said she understood “what it looks like to the outside world”, she insisted Mark was “not your typical 24-year-old” and insisted there’s more to a person than their birth year.
“I really think age is just a number,” she continued. “It’s what you’ve been through in life and how you were raised. There are many factors other than age that influence maturity.”
However, a few months later, Christine revealed that she had broken up with Mark.
“I know he needs to experience life in the long run,” she said on an October episode of the podcast. “He’s young. He’s young. He’s starting to feel a little older just with life experiences. I think back to when I was 24 and how much has happened in my life in between. Those are important years. Those are formative years. This is when you find yourself, and he needs to be able to do that.”
Still, she called their romance “the best relationship” of her life and said she hopes Mark realizes their breakup was for the best.
“I know that one day he’ll look back and understand that. And in fact, I think one day he’ll thank me,” she added.
