CNBC bureau chief says Emirates flight to Dubai was turned back due to Iranian missiles
CNBC Middle East bureau chief Emma Graham was on the first repatriation flight to the United Arab Emirates after the U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran escalated into a broader regional war.
On Monday, Emirates and Etihad Airways announced a small number of flights to and from Dubai. These are repatriation flights for Emirati nationals and residents, as well as flights to evacuate other tourists stranded in the country.
But with about 30 minutes left on the three-and-a-half-hour journey from Mumbai to Dubai, the captain of Mr Graham’s Emirates flight told passengers they would have to turn back because of a missile fired by Iran towards the UAE.
