This story contains spoilers for Part 2 of Bridgerton Season 4.

Bridgerton’s creative team remains obsessed with Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page.

Following the departure of actors from the Netflix historical romance series (Léger left the role of Simon Bassett after season 1, and Phoebe played his wife Daphne Bridgerton until season 3), showrunner Jess Brownell dismissed the idea of bringing in new actors to continue the characters’ storylines.

“We’re not interested in recasting characters,” she told Variety. “I think it feels like it undoes everything that Reger and Phoebe set up in season one and all the beautiful work that they put into those characters.”

As a result, Inventing Anna producers insisted that Phoebe, 30, and Leger, 38, have the potential to reprise their roles in future seasons, as long as the storyline warrants their return.

“We’d like to have them back at some point,” she continued, “but logistically, we’d like to have them back at a time when there’s something that really means something to them. And for them to come back to say lines at the funeral and just prove they were there doesn’t seem right for a number of reasons.”
