In her confessional, Mary blamed herself for not understanding the seriousness of Robert Jr.’s addiction, adding: “I feel so disappointed in myself. I feel like I let him down somewhere.”
Attorney Clayton Sims said Robert Jr. was recently released from the Salt Lake County Metro Jail earlier this month after two months in custody. Although her son was serving time in prison, the reality TV star viewed his stay in prison as a kind of relief.
“I know he’s out there somewhere he’s not using,” she said at the RHOSLC Season 6 reunion, which aired last month. “At some point, I have to step back so he can learn and make his own decisions. Unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way. But I’m okay with that.”
As for how Mary and her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., are coping in the wake of the tragedy, she told TMZ in a statement on February 25th, “Our beloved son, Robert Jr., has been called to be with the Lord. Our hearts are broken, but we are comforted by God’s promises and knowing that He is finally at rest. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord as they carry us through this time of sorrow.”
