19. Despite early pressure from executives and the level of gore in the film, Craven kept the atmosphere light and fun on set.
“Wes said to me, ‘When you make a horror movie, the experience doesn’t have to be terrifying,'” Kennedy told THR. “That’s one of the greatest quotes I’ve ever heard. We made this crazy movie, but we drank wine and had civilized dinners at night. As we neared the end of filming, I got so sad that the movie was ending that I started crying. Courtney was like, ‘Oh, honey. Don’t cry. This is how it is. It’s summer camp.'” She’s like, “But this is my life.” She says, “No, honey.” You only have 3 months to live, but we have a bond that will never be forgotten. ”
20. Filming on location in North Carolina, the entire cast stayed in the same hotel, often spending time together in Arquette’s room, which was decorated with lava lamps and blacklight posters.
“David was so crazy that he bought every toy he could buy in Santa Rosa and hung them from the ceiling,” Campbell told The Ringer. “I think it was called ‘David Barr’ or ‘David’s Club’ or something. ‘Club David.'”

Still, housekeeping staff wasn’t too thrilled about the actors staying at the hotel. “The hotel maids hated us, or hated me, that’s for sure, because we ruined a lot of sheets and pillowcases,” Ulrich recalls. “No matter how hard you scrub. Back then, I didn’t know the trick with shaving cream. It was easy to get[the blood]off. But it always leaves a residue, and it always gets stuck in your pillowcase and sheets.”
