Amber Glenn’s sister comes to her defense.
Brooke Glenn criticized criticism of the decorated figure skater, who won gold with Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
“As I cheer on my sister Amber Glenn in her first Olympics, I am so proud of her as a person and as an athlete,” Brooke wrote in a Feb. 19 op-ed for Teen Vogue. “And of course, with that love comes a fierce desire to protect her from the ugliness and hate she sees online.”
As Brooke explained, the hate started “storming” towards Amber after she said during an Olympic press conference that it was “a tough time” for the LGBTQ+ community. (During the press conference, the 26-year-old, who placed fifth in the free skate event, said, “This is not the first time we have had to come together as a community and fight for human rights.”)
But as far as Brooke could see, Amber’s comments didn’t deserve the hate she’s received since then.
“This is not a criticism,” Brooke wrote, “this is an attempt to dehumanize someone because what she is saying is different and scary to them.”
