Shortly after the cancellation of Victorious, Grande reprized her role as the fan-favorite and whimsical Cat in the crossover spin-off series Sam & Cat, co-starring iCarly’s Janet McCurdy. However, the popular show only aired for one season, and reports of pay disputes and on-set drama surfaced.
But Grande’s star had already emerged as a solo artist thanks to her 2013 debut album, Yours Truly, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She went on to release 2014’s My Everything and 2016’s Dangerous Woman, both of which went platinum.
Since then, the 26-year-old songstress has become one of the most popular and successful recording artists, releasing two more hit albums, Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019), the latter of which shattered streaming records and made her the first artist since the Beatles in 1964 to have their first three singles in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100. Grande was nominated for 11 Grammy Awards and won for the first time. Winner of the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
Grande’s personal life has consistently made headlines over the years, with the superstar mentioning ex-boyfriends in her hit song “Thank U Next,” including Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, former fiancé Pete Davidson, and the late rapper boyfriend Mac Miller, who died of an overdose in 2018. It was recently reported that Grande is dating real estate agent Dalton Gomez.
Grande has also opened up about her struggles with mental health and the trauma that followed the 2017 Manchester bombing. After the devastating attack that left 22 people dead, Grande co-organized and performed in One Love Manchester, a benefit concert to support the families of the victims, which raised $13 million.
