Pakistan defeated America by 32 runs in the T20 World Cup Group A match in Colombo, with opener Sahibzada Farhan scoring a half-century and spinner Usman Tariq taking three wickets.
The 29-year-old hit five sixes and six fours in a 41-ball 73, helped by Babar Azam’s brilliant 32-ball 46 (four fours, one six), to lead Pakistan to a huge 190-9 total victory at the Sinhala Sports Club ground on Tuesday.

Their spinners then kept the inexperienced American batting in check, with Tariq’s 3-27 and Shadab Khan’s 2-26, limiting their opponents to 158-8 in 20 overs.
With the win, Pakistan avenged their shock defeat to the United States in the T20 World Cup two years ago and registered their second win after Saturday’s close three-wicket win over the Netherlands.
For the USA, Shubham Ranjan top-scored with a brave 30-ball 51, including three sixes and as many fours, but was paced by bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was playing his 100th T20 appearance.
Opening bowler Shayan Jahangir hit an attractive 34-ball 49 studded with two sixes and five fours, and Milind Kumar scored 29 runs, but the Americans fell from 123-3 and lost the match.
Earlier, Farhan and fellow opener Saim Ayub scored 19 and 26 from 17 balls to score 54 in five overs.
Pakistan then lost two wickets in six overs to the bowling of Shadley van Schalkwyk.
Ayub was caught with a late shot while skipper Salman Agha holed out at the deep square-leg boundary to score one shot.
Farhan and Azam took control with an 81-run third-wicket stand as Pakistan loosened up in the middle overs.
Farhan crossed 1,000 T20 international runs in his 41st match but was caught at cover by spinner Harmeet Singh in the 16th over.
Shadab Khan launched an onslaught of 30 runs off 12 balls, but Pakistan lost five wickets for just 13 runs in the remaining two overs.
Schalkwik took four wickets and lost 29 runs against India on Saturday, making him the best bowler in the country with 4 wins and 25 losses.
