Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal have a rare date night at the 2026 Golden Globes afterparty
Paul Mescal wouldn’t want one-click access.
In fact, the 30-year-old admitted he was no longer active on social media after his breakout role in 2020’s Normal People.
“I had this song when Normal People first started out, and I remember thinking, ‘Oh no, if I keep doing this, it’s gone.’ Then I’ll have it forever and I’ll post a trailer or something,” he said in a recent interview with British GQ. “It’s very difficult to avoid attention and comments.”
“They may not even know your job,” he added. “And they’ll say, ‘Your nose is too big.'”
Although the Hamnet star hasn’t double-tapped any devices, he said succeeding without social media is quite a luxury.
“I’m blessed to be in this position because I realize that I’ve been very lucky,” he explained. “But I’ve never been hired by a studio. I’ve been hired by filmmakers. I think that’s an important thing for actors to remember. I’m also keenly aware that you don’t necessarily have to follow the model you choose, because that can limit your access to work.”
