Luka Doncic recorded his sixth triple-double of the season with 37 points and led all three Los Angeles scorers by at least 20 points as the visiting Lakers defeated the Washington Wizards 142-111.

Doncic showed no ill effects from the injury he sustained in a fall from an elevated court in Cleveland, and by halftime on Friday he had a triple-double with 26 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. The guard had 13 assists and 11 boards and added three steals.

Doncic dictated the flow of the game, and Los Angeles quickly took control, going on a 9-0 run to take a 20-11 lead midway through the first quarter. This early outburst gave the Lakers a lead they never relinquished, and they continued to build on it for the next 40-plus minutes.

Los Angeles’ Deandre Ayton had 28 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, and LeBron James had 20 points and six assists.

Each of the trio shot at least 50 percent from the floor, and as a team, the Lakers shot an impressive 52-of-85 from the field (61.2 percent).

Just one game after the Lakers fell behind by 30 points to the Cavaliers in their most lopsided loss of the season, their prolific offense led Los Angeles to its second-highest scoring performance of the season.

The blowout loss thwarted Washington’s efforts to win three straight games throughout the season. The Wizards entered the game with back-to-back wins over the Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks, but there was no answer to Los Angeles’ initial onslaught.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks maintained their good form with Karl-Anthony Towns recording a double-double of 14 points and 20 rebounds, defeating the visiting Portland Trail Blazers 127-97.

It was Towns’ second straight game with 20 rebounds, and he leads the NBA with 11.8 rebound boards per game. Towns had a season-high 22 rebounds in New York’s 119-92 win over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. He has 31 double-doubles this season.

Jalen Brunson scored a team-high 26 points for the Knicks, who finished the month with five straight wins after going 2-for-9 since Dec. 31. New York allowed fewer than 100 points in four of its five wins.

For the Knicks, starters OG Anunoby (24 points), Josh Hart (20 points) and Mikal Bridges (10 points) all scored in double figures. Tyler Kolek scored 13 points off the bench, and fellow reserve Mohamed Diawara added 10 points.

Shaydon Sharpe scored 26 points for the Trail Blazers, who had won four straight but lost four straight overall and went winless in three games on the East Coast. The losing streak is tied for a season-high for Portland, who also lost four in a row from November 14th to November 19th.

For the Trail Blazers, Jerami Grant (15 points), Sidi Sissoko (15 points) and Caleb Love (12 points) all scored in double figures off the bench, and starter Deni Avdija had 11 points. Reserve Robert Williams III had a team-high 11 rebounds.

With 3:41 left in the first, Diawara’s 3-pointer gave the Knicks their first double-digit lead at 22-10. New York led 37-22 at the end of the second period, scoring the first nine points of the second period.

A 23-7 run late in the second pulled the Trail Blazers within 56-48, and the Knicks held a 59-49 lead going into halftime. New York led by double digits throughout the second half and led by as many as 33 points in the fourth.
