Technology entrepreneur Michael Polanski wanted to know more about his love for Lady Gaga, so he popped the question to the megastar in April 2024.
Even before the two met, the Grammy winner’s mother, Cynthia Germanotta, knew they would be matched up against each other.
“When my mom met him, she said to me, ‘It looks like you just met your husband,’ and I said, ‘I’m not ready to meet a husband!'” Gaga recalled to Vogue in an interview shared in September 2024. “Did you ever imagine that my mother… would find me the most perfect person?”
The singer met her fiancé in December 2019 at Napster co-founder Sean Parker’s birthday party, she said. He has worked with Polanski in several organizations).
“I was invited and I said, ‘I wonder if Michael would be there too?’ My mom said yes, so I went to the party and kept asking him out. And finally he came up to me and we talked for three hours,” she added in the article. “We had the most wonderful conversation.”
The couple had a great conversation over the phone, Gaga continued, and they later went on their first date and ended up moving in together amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“It was really special,” she told Vogue. “Since I was a teenager, I was very focused on my career, and the gift of that time was that I was able to focus completely on my relationships. I met a completely supportive and loving human being who wanted to get to know me outside of Lady Gaga.”
