After confirming their hunch with a pregnancy test, Perry and Alex couldn’t be happier to be adding to their family. But after she and bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall set out on tour in April 2022, the X Factor alum started to sense that something was wrong.
“I kept bleeding every night before the show,” she recalled. “I remember sitting there thinking, ‘This is it, my baby is gone.'”
Doctors continued to reassure Perry that the baby was growing well, but things changed when Perry went for tests at 20 weeks old.
“It was just the worst day of my life. It was a horrible day,” said Perry, who had also suffered a miscarriage before getting pregnant with Axl. “The scan revealed something wrong.”
“I was just traumatized,” she continued, noting that she couldn’t even drive home from her appointment because she was crying so much. “When you’re full and you’re 24 weeks old and you’ve planned out the kids’ rooms and everything, I think it’s really hard.”
